Nele Bergmans (b. 1994) Born in Belgium and with a background in architecture, Nele’s artistic practice revolves around the act of observation and exploration of deep emotional responses to the world. Fascinated by the profound impact of small encounters, she seeks to understand why these moments resonate so deeply. Through her work, she taps into universal and unconscious memories that defy verbal expression.
Fundamental actions of building and stacking drive Nele’s process, drawing from concepts like balance, scale, composition, and fragility. This approach creates poetic spaces that evoke ancient connotations and personal experiences. She primarily works with natural materials like stone, glass, timber, plaster, and bronze, embracing an "honest" perspective that allows the inherent qualities of these materials to guide the artwork's form using basic and intuitive techniques. Nele is currently studying MA Fine Art Drawing at Camberwell College of Arts, University of the Arts London.
